Diana F | Holga S

The Diana F & the Holga S came into my possession in the late 1990’s, I used them as an instamatic camera to document my meanderings, a camera that was always part of my kit.I aesthetically fell in love the images it produced and explored its capabilities into multi-exposures and utilizing its magnesium flash adaptor.

Diana F is a rudimentary medium format so called ‘toy camera from the 1960’s produced by the Great Wall Plastic Co in Hong Kong. I have 2 from the original 1960’s production run & have used them since the late 1990’sAs they were cheap to make, they each have defining aesthetics making quite unique imperfect images, now a trademark of the Diana.

The Holga S also a cheap plastic medium format 120 film camera, made in Hong Kong, known for its low-fidelity aesthetic. The Holga camera was designed by Lee Ting-mo and released in 1982. Holga cameras use a single-piece plastic meniscus lens. Like any simple meniscus lens, the Holga lens exhibits soft focus and chromatic aberration.
